I had an old board lying around. So I covered it with newspaper and mod podge.
Then I cut out some letters.
After mod podging on the letters, I then applied some paint. Above is the end result… what do you think?
No really, I do. I have a lot on my plate! I put it there myself.
I went to the ceramics shop and bought myself a plate… then I put a lot on it.
Yes, I am goofy.
…but I think my dinnerware should make me smile and I just couldn’t find anything funky enough for me, so I started painting my own plates. It’s a slow process… mostly because I am cheap and the plates are not!
This is something I made a while back. I had all of these old books… most of them are just going to get thrown away because the information in them is soooo out of date, but being a librarian, I just hate seeing them get pitched. So…. I took paint, glue and scrapbook paper and made Keirsten a journal! She loved it! (Although, I’m not sure she’s done anything with it after those first few days!)
They say necessity is the Mother of Invention. Well, I believe it. I have been looking for a bangle bracelet to fit me for a long time. I might as well have been looking for bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. So… I decided I’d try to make one.
I didn’t take pictures of the step by step because I thought it would probably be a massive failure… but it wasn’t. Basically, this bracelet started out with a piece of cardboard, some mod podge and a bunch of newspaper. Then I painted it. I’m gonna try one with pictures next… I’ll try to take step by step pics this time.
A friend of mine at work is leaving to go to another school in the district. I’m sad to see her go, so I made her a parting gift. She loves bright colors…. (particularly, lime green) and owls, so I made her a mixed media piece (also known as some scrapbook paper, markers and a page out of an old book that was going to get thrown away). Here’s the end result.
I have finally written something on my chalkboard wall… actually I wrote it on there a while back, but I forgot to post a picture. Since then, my neice, Mackenzie has signed her name to it… and since I won’t see her again for a while, I’ve left it there.
I think I might do a pattern on the backsplash at some point, but I haven’t taken the time to try it. What do you think? I can’t decide… it might be too busy. (What am I talking about??? Is anything ever too busy for me??)
I am a master of procrastination. I have had these canvases since before I moved into my house almost 2 years ago… I was supposed to paint this on them for a friend. I was fired up in the beginning and I came right home and started painting, but I couldn’t quite get her vision onto the canvas. She wanted blue clouds with some yellow peeking through. I attempted, but she didn’t really like them… and neither did I. So, I have finally tried again. Still not sure she’ll like them, but hey, at least I finally finished.
